Actually, this place is better. Olde Magoun's Saloon might just be the perfect neighborhood bar. You've got the surly cook who can be tenderized with a bit of Elliot Smith, and a bartender with soft hands, a good ear, and a bad memory. Although the bar is not yet three years old (they'll be celebrating that milestone in March), they're already known for their warm atmosphere and uncommonly fresh pub food.

In addition to the delicious food and sparkling personalities, Magoun's has got 26 varieties of bottled beer and 15 beers on tap -- including the puzzling but intriguing Arrogant Bastard Ale, with the slogan "Hated by many, loved by few." The animation on their website seems to imply that this beer may cause you to jump off buildings or make your head explode -- if you're not worthy, that is.

As if the arrogant bastard were not incentive enough to drink, Magoun's has posted encouraging quotes, some best left only to the sunniest of interpretations, including the favorite, "Drinking is a great way to end the day."
