Wednesday Pub Night #116 - 7:30pm at Ye Olde Tripple Inn
Back to the Pub Night home page
Greetings and good afternoon.
PubNight tonight heads to the Theater District/Midtown West, and
will be a bit earlier than usual. We will arrive at 7:30 at:
- Ye Olde Tripple Inn
- 263 W 54th St
- (Between 8th Ave and Broadway)
- New York, NY 10019
- (212) 245-9849
Sidewalk.com describes it as a "Fairly rockin' joint: pitchers and
good food." I would say that it's a good local pub with respectable
pub food.
Today's history:
- 1914 - Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street in Cleveland, Ohio
became the first intersection in the country to be equipped with
an electric traffic light.
- 1962 - Actress, Marilyn Monroe, died from a drug overdose on
this night in Los Angeles, in a case that is still unsolved and
involves a lot of speculation.
More importantly, Birthdays include:
- 1946 - Loni Anderson (actress: WKRP in Cincinnati, The Jayne
Mansfield Story, Easy Street, Necessity, Nurses)
- 1946 - Jimmy Webb (Grammy Award-winning songwriter: Up, Up and
Away [1967]; MacArthur Park, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Wichita
Lineman, Galveston)
- 1956 - Maureen McCormick (actress: A Very Brady Christmas, The
Brady Bunch)
Come have a beer. Maybe a burger. And discuss whether Mr.
Carlson had any control over the station, who left the cake out in
the rain, and past Presidents of the Davy Jones fan club.
