Back to the Pub Night home page
Every week I get dragged to some random corner of the city and suffer with either a long walk or a painful drive. Not this week. Our selection offers easy access from many subway lines, is sitting almost adjacent to a PATH station, and happens to be right along my Midtown to Lincoln Tunnel drive:
Place: Blarney Rock Pub
Date: 11/17/99
Time: 7:30pm
Address: 137W 33rd Street
At: between 6th and 7th ave
Backup: Keens Chop House, 72W 36th Street near 6th Ave
This is not to be confused with the nearly infinite collection of Blarney Stone pubs around the city. The Blarney Rock serves Guinness, which is good for you, and a wide variety of greasy bar food, which is not. You can let your arteries decide if you want to eat there.
Things to celebrate include:
- My birthday on the 16th. Famous people born on that date worth mentioning include, well, nobody. (see http://www.metamaze.com/bdays/ if you don't believe me)
- Laura's birthday on the 19th. (you can wish her well using laura@marinecomputer.com) To illustrate how much better looking Scorpio women are than us poor guys, Laura shares her date of birth with Jodie Foster and Meg Ryan. Men born that day? Dick Cavett and Larry King. Still not convinced? Try October 28th: Julia Roberts and Lauren Holly vs. Bill Gates and Dennis Franz. I rest my case.
- The Piltches have moved in and hosted their first visitor from the New York area. Who was the fool willing to drive all the way to Maine before they'd even finished unpacking? That would be me again. Anyone who follows should appreciate my working out the bugs in V1.0 of the directions given out.
- Speaking of Maine, those who visited http://www.pubnight.com recently may have noticed a new addition...Pub Night Portland! That's right, the franchise has migrated north. Expect to see more changes in the look of the page in the near future now that we have two towns to support.
Still reading by now? I applaud your perseverance and hope to see you tonight.
