Back to the Pub Night home page
At a party on Saturday night, someone referred to friend living in a former crack house. Although crack houses are just so-80's (or was it so-early-90's?), and few if any of us have ever been to one (if you have, we'll want to hear stories), it serves as an introduction to this week's PubNight location: Opium Den. We were last there on 9/23/98 (PN #123.) Next week, we'll definitely go to a new place.
Since I have nothing wise and pithy to say - as if I ever do - I will mention the following useless items.
Another topic at the Saturday party was a favorite childhood show, "The Magic
Garden". You probably haven't heard these wonderful words in a long time:
see ya, see ya,
hope you had a good good time
da dum
hope you have a good good mornin'
um-hmmm
hope we get to see you again
da dum
Since few, if any, of us are morning people, I would suggest that you substitute "martini" for "good mornin'" (keep one "good") and you will find it to be a good PubNight anthem. For more Magic Garden lyrics and sound clips, see: http://www.webspan.net/~chuckie/magicgarden/index.html
And, in a recent PubNight, the topic of Square Pegs came up, probably by me. "Square pegs, square pegs - square, square...pegs - always never quite right." Another appropriate PubNight anthem? For a Square Pegs fan page, see: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/5159/sqpgs.htm
Happy Birthday to Karen G-D (May 2), who is celebrating at JazzFest in New Orleans.
See you at Opium Den.

distance themselves from the Square Pegs and Magic Garden references
