Wednesday Pub Night #200 (5/31/00) - 8:00 pm at Hell

For this week's PubNight - we have reached number 200 (!!!) - polling was conducted to choose our location. The vote for best PubNight yielded a wide variety of places and even a wider variety of reasons for their respective selections, including the touching sentiments that "[it's] where I met you folks first" or "because my grandparents used to drink there", to the depraved "because it was the last time Jay threw up", and the sadly chaste "The only night I ended with taking a woman home at the end, but sadly her parents were there (not to mention I met her boyfriend the next week, sigh)."

By vote of PubNighters, and agreement of the triumverate, this Wednesday we are all going to Hell. Comments from PubNighters included, "My favorite collection of stuff to drink of any Pub Night so far, and a cool place." and "Hell, because I never seem to get to drink there, despite setting my foot in the door 3 times." Hell is a comfortable lounge with an assortment of fun drinks. CitySearch cites a mix of "SOHO swank" and "dive drinking den."

After selecting Hell, we looked at the email from our first trip there in August of 1998. Coincidentally, we were celebrating Jay's departure from MTV for NYU that week. This Wednesday is his last day at NYU, as he departs for the web design world.

Having updated the stats, we can offer a few tidbits about the first 200 PubNights:
- we have been to 162 different bars in our 200 Wednesdays
- 181 people have attended PubNight more than once
- 414 different people have attended PubNight at least once
- average attendance has been 13.35 people per week
- cumulative attendance (each person x each time they attended) comes to 2,657 people-nights at PubNight
- at an average of 3.5 drinks per person, that is 9,300 drinks
- at $5 per drink, we have spent about $46,500, not counting food and extraneous shots
