Wednesday Pub Night #203 (6/21/00) - 7:30 pm at Oddfellows (in Hoboken)

Back to the Pub Night home page

Good Evening,

(We wanted this email to go out early to prepare everyone for a trip across the hudson river this week. So grab your passport, sense of adventure, two dollars and read on!)

On June 19th, 1846, what was believed to be the first organized game of baseball was played in Hoboken, New Jersey. This had absolutely no influence on the selection of Hoboken for this week's Pub Night, but it makes for a nice coincidence.

Our destination for those brave enough to cross the river is Oddfellows, about which City Search says absolutely nothing. OK, I lied, they do at least give you the address. USA Today says it is one of the best 10 places in the US to dine on catfish. The food is decidedly Cajun, as itsderived from New Orleans, and it's spicy enough to seriously run up your beer tab. The less adventuresome can always munch on the tasty "Big Easy" burger, served on an English muffin for no apparent reason. For bonus points, bring to the bar a list all the other things you prefer big and easy.

Located 50 yards from the Hoboken PATH station, Oddfellows is very easy to find for those taking the train into town. PATH stations out of Manhattan are mostly located on 6th avenue, scattered between 9th and 33rd streets, and there's one few can find on Christopher Street. Information about the trains is at http://www.panynj.gov/path/

Looking forward to a short trip home for once,

--Greg
