Good Afternoon,

Last time we forayed into this part of the East Village, a few pubnighters wandered into this week's bar choice, and thought it was pretty cool. (We were actually next door at Parlay). This week, we decided to check it out for real.

Citysearch gives it so-so reviews: " an object lesson in the first rule of cool: Don't try too hard. They did. The name is taken from the bar that Alex and his cronies frequent in "A Clockwork Orange," and it doesn't stop there: The owners have decided to deck out the long, spacious interior with various gimmicks reminiscent of Anthony Burgess' ultraviolence."
It's worth checking out and drawing our own conclusions about.

Reasons to drink this week:

• 6/28/1985 Offically declared Route 66 day (road trip anyone?)
• 1847 New York and Boston were linked by telegraph wires. (insert your own MAE East joke here...)
• 1929 Scientists at Bell Laboratories in New York reveal a system for transmitting television pictures.
• Start the holiday weekend early !
