Back to the Pub Night home page
Greetings.
It is time to go back to the Village before the thousands of young NYU students return and crowd the bars until next May. Our destination this week is Kettle of Fish at (read carefully!) 59 Christopher Street between Waverly and 7th Ave South, at Sheridan Square in the heart of the West Village. Veteran New Yorkers, please note that Kettle of Fish is no longer on W.3rd, but rather has moved west to the former Lion's Head space. It is near the 1/9 at Christopher St, the A/C/E/B/D/F/Q at West 4th St, and the PATH at 9th or Christopher. I'm feeling verbose.
No PubNight Birthdays this week, as far as I've heard, so...
Happy Belated Birthday (8/14/61) to Susan Olsen, Cindy Brady from TV's "Brady
Bunch" and Happy Birthday this week to..
Also this week in history:
Top 2 items:
August 16, 1985 - Saying Goodbye to General Lee - The last episode of the
television show Dukes of Hazard aired on this day, concluding a successful
five-year run. Aside from Bo, Luke, Daisy, and Uncle Jesse, the star of the
show was the General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger (and also co-starring was the
infamous clothing item known as "daisy dukes", rumored to be back in style again
this summer according to the NY Times in June.)
and in the same week - 15 years ago this week, in August 1985, Petro left home
for college. He spent his last night of freedom seeing Squeeze on the Pier with
Stuart and several other friends. Stuart, Karen G-D, Athomas, SCooney, and
several other PubNighters left for college over the subsequent several weeks.
(Although we didn't know them then.)
See you at PubNight at Kettle of Fish.
Petro, Jay, and Kris
