This week's PubNight email is from Crispy, also known to a few people as Chris Poultney.
.......................My birthday choice: Dew Drop Inn. Last visited on 2/2/00 (PubNight 183) - this was the infamous night of post-pubnight quarters at the Crow, for those few who were brave enough to participate. My brief summary of the Dew Drop: Deadly (but fun!) drinks (lynchburg lemonades, painkillers, fall-off-the-porch iced teas) and Sierra Nevada on tap; above-average bar food, including a few surprises (Dr. Pepper chicken). "Wets" are recommended. Bonus: Waitresses with strange protuberances which will undoubtedly result in further pondering and discussion.
Research reveals that October 26th (my actual birthday) witnessed the gunfight at the OK Corral (1881), the opening of the Erie Canal (1825), the opening of A Chorus Line (1975) [finally closed in 1990, after 6,137 performances], and Muhammad Ali's first fight after being stripped of his title and license for violating the Selective Service Act (1970).
Cool people who share my birthday: Bob Hoskins (actor, 1942), Ivan Reitman
(Ghostbusters director, 1946), Jaclyn Smith (Charlie's Angels, 1947). Others
who share my birthday: Hillary Rodham Clinton (if you don't know..., 1946)
and one-time Miss Georgia runner-up Marla Maples (The Donald's wife from
Dec. 1993 - June 1999, born 1963).
