Wednesday Pub Night #234 (01/31/01) - 8:00 pm at Red Rock West

Good Afternoon,

This week, Pubnight is venturing into an area of Manhattan we haven't been for a while (err... perhaps even ever?).

With a good mix of bikers, artists, old guys, southerners, drunks, and average 20/30-somethings (this seems to describe most Pubnighters), it's a roadhouse, a place you go to toss back a few beers and shoot the sh*t with your buddies. This is not your yuppie wall streeter wine bar. Sure, some might complain that they play up the trashy theme bar idea a bit much, but the women behind the bar are clearly "Bartenders" who came running from some small southern town, not Scarsdale-raised Seven Sisters college grads waiting for their Broadway debut, the CEO of their dreams, or Daddy to make them get a real job.

Reasons to drink this week:
- It's the dead of winter
- No-one claimed a birthday pubnight for this week
- 1973: Kiss played their first show at the Coventary Club in Queens, NY.
- 1999 : The Lycos web site began a new search service that offered easy access to a half-million high quality recordings.

So where hasn't Pubnight been recently in Manhattan?
