Wednesday Pub Night #241 (3/21/01) - 7:30 pm at Barrow Street Ale House

Back to the Pub Night home page

This seems to be the chosen week of PNNY spring break. Some Pubnighter's are sunning themselves in warmer places than New York (like LA and Florida) while others are investigating hazardous waste disposal in the Caribbean (another sunny place, but probably not a relaxing endeavor). This leaves the rest of PNNY to dream about warmer weather as the onset of spring brings barely warmer temps. What does this leave us to do? Drink, of course!

But first... a special announcement:
**Next week 3/28, marks the 5th (yes that's 5) year anniversary of Pubnight. Mark your calendars for this week. If you were only planning on attending a few Pubnights in 2001, this should be one of them! Old school pubnighters (you know who you are!) it would be great to see you out again (and to just see you in general!) our 5th. (This will be the first of many times you'll hear one of the triumvirate say "I can't believe we've been doing this for 5 years!")**

Back to this week's Pubnight.
Reasons to drink this week - well, here's some bad-a** American history to consider:
1638 - Anne Hutchinsoon, a religious dissident, was expelled from the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
1868 - Jesse James Gang robbed a bank in Russelville Kentucky of $14,000.
1899 - At Sing Sing prison Martha M. Place became the first woman to be executed in the electric chair.
1963 - Alcatraz Island, the federal penitentiary in San Francisco Bay, CA, closed.
1991 - Pamela Smart, a high school teacher, was found guilty in New Hampshire of manipulating her student-lover to kill her husband.

So, where are we going this week? Once again this week there are no admitted Pubnight birthdays leaving the triumvirate (well, those of us who are not in the Caribbean) to decide.

See you tomorrow - and mark your calendars for next week!
