PubNight #247 (05/02/01) - 8:00 pm at Dusk Lounge
Back to the PubNight home page
Good Afternoon,
This week the triumvirate has decided to try a new bar in Chelsea.
This darkly lit bar, good cocktails, a pool table, cool looking
mirror mosaics on the walls (although, last time I was there they a bit
hard to see in the darkness), and fish tanks behind it's dark
mahogany bar.
May 2nd seems to have some odd historical birthdays attached to
it... here's what we (Petro) has dug up for this week. Some might
even be relevant to conversation tomorrow night...
- May 2, 1837 - Henry M. Robert (U.S. Army General; author: Robert's Rules of
Etiquette, the standard for parliamentary procedure) - I have to believe
that some PubNighters were high school debate club members.
- May 2, 1892 - The Red Baron (d.Apr 21, 1918 at 25) - Manfred Von Ricthoven,
pilot; he shot down more than 80 enemy aircraft during World War I and
became known as "The Red Baron." (and Snoopy's nemesis.)
- May 2, 1902 - Benjamin Spock (baby doctor, author: The Common Sense Book of
Baby and Child Care). Set the standard by which Baby Boomer parents raised
their Gen X kids.
Where are we going this week? Every once in a while it is ok to venture out of the East Village...
See you there!
