PubNight #272 (11/07/01) - 7 pm at Half King

Back to the Pub Night home page

Good Evening,

This week marks a momentous occasion in PNNY history, as we are celebrating our 200th (!!) new bar. PNNY started out with the idea of trying out a new bar every week (hence 200 out of 272 times), however as the attendance had grown (a good thing) and some faces have changed, bars have closed and re-opened as something else, we decided that it would cool to go back and visit some of our favorites. (If you've been coming to PNNY for the past 2 years or so... you probably can figure out which ones those are).

Other interesting things happening this week:
1805 - Lewis & Clark Expedition sighted the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
1876 - The cigarette manufacturing machine was patented by Albert H. Hook of New York City.
1975 - 1st appearance of the Sex Pistols
1980 - Voyager 1 space probe discovers 15th moon of Saturn

Also, Happy Birthday to long time (phase 2) Pubnighter Chris Sokol... in his own words: "It's true. I am getting older and crustier."

So where are we going for this 200th new bar? The author of "The Perfect Storm" opened this bar as a place "where journalists, writers and locals mix it up--and, presumably, get tanked".

Always note the back-up bar.
See you there!
