PubNight #283 (01/23/02) - 7:30pm at White Horse Tavern

Back to the Pub Night home page

Hello, PubNighters.

This week's choice comes from birthday gal Marna Bunger. She pointed out that "Dylan Thomas once said, "An alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do." His life ended after 18 shots of whiskey at this week's Pub. A West Village icon, the pub was a favorite of another Dylan (Bob) and Steve McQueen once bartended here. PubNight has visited this Pub 2 times, in Sept. 1996 and February 2001."

Marna selected White Horse Tavern to celebrate her PubNight birthday. "I miss the West Village and I can think of no better location to drink among friends and artists. I fantasize about quitting my job and becoming a writer. Until then, I'll just drink at the White Horse. Besides, the last time I went there, I didn't go home alone."

Anyone want to buy Marna a drink this week? But please, let's set a 17 shot limit.

Come drink to celebrate Marna's birth (1966). January 24th is also the birth of John Belushi (1949), Edith Wharton (1862), and Neil Diamond (1941). Other famous events on this day: Ted Bundy's execution (1989) and Winston Churchill's death (1965).

See you at White Horse Tavern.
