Good Afternoon -

This week PNNY is going back to it's time-honored tradition of visiting new bars. In the past few months the triumvirate has noticed we've been going back to many of our old favorites, which is not a bad thing, per se, it's merely time to get out and try some new places. Hence our choice this week.

Tk & Jay have been doing some pub R&D (in this case Research and Drinking) in the past few weeks. Here's the outcome:

A few months ago, Jay and I were walking in Chinatown and walked by what was clearly an Irish pub smack in the middle of Chinatown. We peered eagerly through the windows and swore we'd go back.

Fast forward to two weeks ago, when we finally went back. It was a Thursday night around 10pm, and there were a grand total of about six people in the bar, all sitting at the bar leaving the many tables vacant. We chatted up the friendly Irish bartender, John, who said he'd be working Wednesday, February 6th, and would love it if we stopped by. We also enjoyed the jukebox, and they have Harp on tap and cider in bottles.

This place is a find. It's not in the phone book, not in Citysearch, not in Zagat's, and not in Vindigo.

Please join us at Baxter's Pub this week, 79 Baxter Street just below Canal. (Take yellow or green trains to Canal Street and walk a bit east.) Their kitchen is only open for lunch, so eat before. If you get lost, their phone number is (212) 374-9119. There is also a map on the PN website.

See you there!
