Back to the Pub Night home page
Hey there mouseketeers,
A quote from Edward Landham sets the tone for this week's Wednesday trip
out:
"St. Patrick's Day isn't just for the Irish, it's for drunks of all
nationalities".
Everybody has their own type of bar, whether they know it or not. One nice thing about being a Pub Night regular is that you get to drink in enough places to figure out what your type is. I was reflecting on this topic during a recent Friday night trip to Gaslight hosted by Rebecca, who I didn't think was the person who picked the bar (at a minimum because there was no dance floor). Turned out it was a Kris recommendation, complete with a big set of comfy couches, and that made a whole lot more sense. As for me, March is the perfect time to wander Greg bars, which are always shiny, well lit Irish places that serve great food (as opposed to Fiddlesticks, which is a less shiny, dark Irish place that serves great food and even though I normally like going I swear if somebody picks that as the PubNight bar anytime soon and I have to go back there again I'm going to fasten the person responsible to the straps in the back and smack them around).
Jim Brady's is fast becoming my favorite lunch stop when I'm downtown (mmmm, fish 'n chips), and it's certainly an appropriate pick to honor this weekend's upcoming St. Patrick's day. Brady's is doing their own very weird drunken Irish thing on Friday night. To help raise money for kids suffering from cancer, people are "shaving their heads in fellowship with children undergoing chemotherapy". More details are at http://www.stbaldricks.org should that sort of thing excite you and you want to see their craic shaving team in action.

And don't forget, only two weeks left until the 6th anniversary of PubNight takes us back to Swift's Hiberian Lounge for our own particular brand of March Madness. Please make a note of it.

P.S. Kris mentions that a trip downtown is a perfect time to check out the now reopened Century 21. It's a "famous designer discount store" right across the street from where the towers used to be. I hear it's a great place to pick up spiffy yellow sport jackets.
