Welcome to our Pubnight Palindrome 6th Anniversary!
On March 27, 1996, the tradition of PubNight began with 16 friends and coworkers gathering at Swift. Back then, Petro was still in his 20s, Jay was an MTV tech support guy, Kris was working at some long-forgotten startup, and TK was still two months from college graduation day. Stuart's idea of PubNight reached back to a previous Wednesday night tradition, Wednesday Night Wings, which had brought us some great new friends. And now with 291 PubNights having come and gone, we can happily say that we have added many more new friends to the mix
With 663 different people having attended at least one Wednesday, and 353 of those having attended at least once in the past 2 years, we've spanned a wide range of ages, personalities, and other demographics. What we all agree on, though, is that each and every Wednesday night is a great opportunity to check out a new bar/pub/lounge/dive/tavern with a good beer/wine/martini/scotch/shot, talk with old friends, and meet new friends...occasionally someone you may never have expected to talk with, let alone look forward to seeing again next week.
That's why the the four members of the triumverate (yeah, we know that doesn't make mathematical sense) still organize and come out every week... because we're still having fun and no one screws us on the check at the end of the night.
As tradition dictates, we'll return this week for our 6th anniversary to the place it began, Swift Hibernian Lounge, a fine Irish pub that always treats us well. Bring friends, coworkers, loved ones, and assorted hangers-on.
Some of us will be there closer to 7 if you want to come by earlier.
See you at Swift.
