PubNight #303 (6/12/02) - 7:30pm at Xth Ave Lounge

Back to the Pub Night home page

Good Afternoon

This week we’re going to a bar and a neighborhood we’ve been wanting to revisit. Once more it’s time to leave the East Village and venture, well, north and west a bit. The last time PNNY was at this bar the bathrooms (besides the cocktails) were one of the main attractions:
Murph's Guide reviewers say "the bathroom here is nicer than in many people's homes!" and "the most beautiful bar bathroom I've ever seen."

In my hunt for interesting historical facts to include in the PNNY email - I found Today in Science History (my chemistry teacher would be proud!) anyway, here some highlights from this week:
In 1837, British inventors receive a patent for their electromagnetic telegraph
In 1897, the Swiss Army Knife was patented by Carl Elsener.
In 1895, the first U.S. patent for a gasoline-driven automobile by a U.S. inventor was issued
In 1901, Thomas A. Edison was granted a patent for a "Phonographic Recording Apparatus"

So where are we going this week? Xth Ave Lounge has happy hour from 6-8pm so bring your friends, neighbors and assorted strangers over to Hell’s Kitchen for Pubnight!

See you there!
