Good Afternoon

For the 2nd time in the 7.5 years I've been coming to PubNight, my birthday actually falls on a Wednesday this year. This hasn't happened since 1997. My fellow triumvirate members (who were at 9/24/97 PubNight #74 - 10th Street Lounge) might remember the surprise (and slightly strange) birthday cake that went along with the evening. The story bears telling over cocktails in person.

In thinking about where I'd like to go this week and trying to ignore the fact that it means the clock jumps forward another year, I found myself thinking more about "if I opened a bar, what kind of place would I want it to be?" (This alone is a tough call for someone like me who enjoys both retrieving olives from a $15 vodka martini and grabbing a $2 beer while jumping up on the bar to dance.)

The not-quite so defining answer is "a place where my friends would want to come and hang out." And since it is my birthday, the celebration isn't complete without my friends around.

So come, join me in ringing in another year of fun, love, adventure and looking forward to going down the road life decides to take me. Because like it or not, you're part of the ride too!

See you there!
