welcome-
from the Declaration of Pub Night - section 1:
when in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the crap that binds their daily lives and to assume an accustomed stance at a bar waiting for proper recognition by the bartender in order to obtain a more perfect libation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people deserve a beverage that costs around $5 (preferably less if it's sans booze, but willing to go as high as $10 if the beverage is in a fancy glass with some fruit), that they are endowed by the creator of drinks with certain unalienable rights, that among these are happy hours, at least one chair that we can cover with coats, friends with which to unload the weight of the past week, and maybe some food... perhaps a bean and cheese quesadilla... I'm not sure yet - where's the menu? -- That to secure these rights, Pub Nights shall be instituted among drinkers, deserving their just powers from the consent of some bunch of other people who were probably out late last night...
ok, that's enough of the ur-serious stuff, I thought about writing the "History of Pub Night" email or the "Things you always wanted to know about Pub Night but we were too drunk to understand the question" email, but this has a certain flair... and it doesn't involve numerology
this week marks the 8th anniversary of Pub Night... which, when you think about it, is pretty amazing - I don't know about you, but I couldn't drink this much when I was 8...
anyway - join us in the celebration of our 8th Anniversary Pub Night, Wednesday March 24th at 7pm - This anniversary promises to have a few surprises in addition to food and drink (I think we're getting some platters of sandwiches and stuff) - we've reserved half the back room - ceremonial proceedings will begin promptly after Barry Drabin-Gray arrives, or 9:30 - but y'all should come early so we can guarantee eminent domain (or is it divine right?) over the entire back room...
be seeing you
