PubNight #396 (4/21/04) - 7:30pm at Slainte

To Previous Pubnights

Good Afternoon,

This week, when thinking about PNNY, a few regulars gave us some criteria for selecting a venue. In our sake addled state from last week (those were some BIG, BIG bottles!) we heard:

"Cheap!" - Stella, who also mentioned her birthday occurs this week.
"Near NYU!" - Jeremy, who clearly doesn't like to walk far from work/school
"Shots!" - Sokol, who yes, is in town this week!

Our first selection, Cedar Tavern, had several parties going on this Wednesday in the upstairs, so it was decided to forgo the bar this week, and choose from our list of new bars instead.

Shecky's says: "If $5.50 Smithwick's and $3 McSorley's don't draw you to this friendly new pub, ta' hell witcha'. Picture a smaller, less-crowded Puck Fair, throw in a bit of 288 Bar, and you've got Slainte. A long brick-walled room largely illuminated by candles, this newbie is slightly off the beaten path, but these parts are growing quickly."

So where are we going this week? Not too far off the beaten path, just down the corner of Bowery and Houston to check out a place who's one size could fit all.

See you there!
