PubNight #406 (6/30/04) - 7:30pm at Xth Avenue Lounge

Contrary to popular belief, it seems that Dan Boland is in fact alive and well. Since his last appearance (at anniversary PubNight), he has made the wise decision to age another year, bringing him to a grand total of 29. Or, as I like to say it, "just a little bit older than me." And to kick off his last year before he becomes officially old, he has deigned to leave the Daily News in the lurch and make a rare prime time appearance.

Come celebrate with him this year at Xth Avenue Lounge. This is the place famous for (a) huge, delicious frozen cosmos, and (b) pretty mirrored bathrooms that some people think are good for having sex in. (It's too soon after Pride for me, but knock yourselves out if the spirit moves. Just don't hold up the line, because we'll be drinking a lot of cosmos.)

In other various and sundry news, we have this tidbit from expatriate PubNighter Marna Bunger:

We are nearing the first anniversary of my move to LA and my 38.5 birthday. I'd like to request that you all have a drink in my name on Wednesday. I'm getting published. My bad dates are finally paying off.
The 'Warning: Dating may induce vomiting' blog entry from 3/2/04 has been accepted by Orange Publishing in a collection of short stories entitled 'Sleeping With Snakes: Notes From The Los Angeles Underbelly.' Thanks for all the remote encouragement. I miss NY terribly, but I was never able to focus on my writing there. It's all coming together. A year in LA and I've already seen the underbelly.

Congrats, Marna! We knew you had it in you. And we've got no problem whatsoever lifting an extra glass on your behalf.

See you there!
