PubNight #415 (9/1/04) - 7:30pm at 2A
Good Afternoon -
This week we are celebrating Beth (Elizabeth)'s birthday. When asked if she'd like to write something for the email this week, Beth's response was "nahh... just put: Once regular pubnighter returns for a special birthday appearance."
Many of you know/have tasted items from where Beth has been spending her time for the past 8 months. As she is (rightly) intent and focusing on building her global pastry and candy empire, it made me consider famous female Elizabeths. Here's the list I derived.
Famous Elizabeth's over time:
- Queen Elizabeth I - Reigned for 44 years and is credited for starting
Britian's 'Golden Age' - where importance of fashion, beauty and arts was
popularized. From the little I read, it was unclear her stance on
pastries/sweets.
- Elizabeth Arden - A pioneer in women's skin-care products, and now, spa
services. I mean, who couldn't use a massage or a facial right about now?
Probably shied away from refined sugar all-together, unless it was in a
body scrub.
- Elizabeth Blackwell - Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to graduate
from medical school (M.D.) in 1849; pioneer in educating women in medicine
and was a founder of New York Infirmary for Women and Children (which is
now part of NYU Downtown Hospital). Isn't the crux of many Dr's diets sugar
and caffeine?
So where are we going this week. Come buy Beth a drink (or several since she's
far behind the PN quota) to celebrate what excitement the coming year will
bring!
See you there!
