I like to think that I am adventurous and spontaneous, but I doubt those are the first words that anyone would use to describe me. As evidence of this, anyone who reads this and has known me for more than a year knows where we are going for my birthday...the same place I've been spending birthdays for the past 5 or 6 or more years.
To explain the appeal of Fiddlesticks, I might try to compare the bar to myself. However, locals would describe it as "very Irish" or "formerly gay", neither of which applies in this case. However, it has a distinct sense of oldness, a discernable lack of style, and a certain decrepit charm. But in a good way. So come on over to Fiddlesticks, where the tables are rough hewn wood, the staff is straight off the boat from Ireland, and the beer is Guinness.
Shecky's Bar Review says, "It's certainly hard to envision a more low-key place to hang out. Drink enough moderately priced Guinness and you can almost see tiny little leprechauns clumsily dancing whimsical little circles around the old and spacious interior." I'm not sure about leprechauns, but after a few drinks, we will probably see Vineel clumsily dancing little circles around other PubNighters. (Admit it. You were picturing Vineel as soon as you read the words "clumsily dancing...")
See you at Fiddlesticks!
