PubNight #456 (6/15/05) - 7:30pm at Nancy Whiskey Pub

Wow. From the looks of the PN calendar, a whole lotta people were feeling amorous around September thirty-odd years ago. Five birthdays on deck for the next three weeks--get used to hearing that song, kids.

Anyway, despite a multiplicity of birthdays to celebrate this week, it fell to me to choose a suitable watering hole. I thought it would be appropriate to choose a really tough and manly place for this week's celebrants, Chris and Ricky. The initial list I gathered from Citysearch sounded promising: "Boots & Saddle" (cowboys!), "The Hangar" (pilots!), "The Boiler Room" (plumbers!), and a couple of macho-sounding standbys like "Dick's" and "Ty's." Sadly, on visiting each of these, I found that they were substantially less tough than they sounded.

About as manly, though. And such friendly clientele! I just might go back.

Anyway, sorry, boys. If we can't go tough, we're going to go Nancy. Nancy Whiskey Pub in TriBeCa. If it helps any, it has gotten reviews like "the best dive bar in the city." Highlights include shuffleboard, a full bar menu, and $8 pitchers. PN was there over 4 years ago and cited "low ceilings, drunken rowdy geezers and 'Amazing Grace' too many times on the jukebox." Either way, I think you'll be pleased.

Heh heh. LISPenard.
