I find it increasingly difficult to start these emails... perhaps it is because I no longer exercise my brain by writing insult laden email for work... regardless... we begin:
The eighteenth amendment to the Constitution of the United States went into effect in 1920, making illegal the manufacture, sale, and transport of all alcoholic beverages. The debate for the amendment occupied a single day on the floor of the House of Representatives (and 13 hours in the Senate). But what you may not realize is that the movement had started years earlier... by 1916, 23 out of the 48 States of the Union had already enacted anti-saloon laws. The country, as a whole, demanded prohibition.
...oh the things we do to make our mothers proud...
all seriousness aside - TK and I will once again host Holiday PubNight at our home... Come join us and celebrate the Holidays by doing what was illegal in Our Country 67 years ago... and help tear down the guise of the righteous.
while we'll have some beer... you'll probably want to bring your own (deli on 13th & university is quite handy for that... tell them PubNight sent you, although they'll just look at you funny and possibly overcharge you) - but we should have a considerable amount of booze and mixers...
above all - stay warm... avoid the picket lines... plan your escape route...
be seeing you
-your triumvirate
ps: Ou sont-ils, les marins sombres dans le nuits noires?
