Hiya,
Chances are you're gonna be thirsty on Wednesday. At least sometime on Wednesday. I say you suck it in, practice some self control, allow yourself to get a little parched, and then, before you know it, you will be at the bar with us! As good ole Nietzsche said or wrote or brainfarted one day, " You must await your thirst and allow it to become complete."
Where better to complete yourself, than Belly, so named for the protuberance that buddha bears and bares. I think this Lower East Side lounge is going for an Asian twist, besides the buddhaic statuary there's a crapload of sake connoctions on the menu, like saketinis and sake-to-mes (sake & plum wine). If sake's not your poison, not to worry-- beer, wine & liquor are divine as well. "Like balloons, we are nothing till filled," now that's one mantra re alcohol I can really appreciate. Although, I don't think that's what Melville had in mind when he scribbled or crapped or blurted that one out either.

I peeked in the window on my way to Lotus Lounge the other week and it was pretty empty (well that was around 7:30) and still intrigued me, with its fat buddha in the window, red walls and dark wood. Asian-Edgy vibe, Sexy and laid-back. Intriguing cocktails; Happy Hour til 8.
So, let's get enlightening together, dare I say it, let's light a path for nirvana.

PS... Our much anticipated 10 Year Pubnight Anniversary is coming up on March 29th. Over the past decade we've spent more on alcohol than the annual GNP per cap of lots of third worldians. Now, that's something to be proud. Go U.S.A. Anyway, we're expecting some special guests who are coordinating a pilgrimage back to the mecca we call Swifts Hibernian. Hint, hint...this is a grandiose occasion. Take the next day off now! ... No matter how much you shower the Thursday morning after, you WILL wrinkle noses, reeking of alcohol.
