Hi PubNighters!
We have a special treat. PubNight is venturing to the Upper East Side. We habitually remain south of 57th St, however, this is one border we can cross without worrying about soldiers deporting us. I can't guarantee there won't be gunfire or vicious dogs, because after all, this is NYC. Shit happens.
We're heading to The Auction House on 89th between First & Second Ave., which was recommended by PubNighter Big Fuzzy Chris. He digs it and lauds the bar as worth the trip.
New York Magazine concurs. According to their bar reviewer: "The Auction House is a diamond in the rough—if by "diamond" you mean warm and unpretentious hangout, and by "rough" you mean the Upper East Side. Unlike the overly preppy, generic bars that litter the area, The Auction House offers a cozier alternative, fireplace and all."
My darlings, take the 4,5,6 to 86th Street. Chris cautions PubNighters to keep an eagle eye out for the bar, it's easy to miss. "The place looks like a bordello on the south side of the street (red curtains, etc). There's no sign with the name of the bar."
Also, we're celebrating a birthday this week, you special sexy person, you know who you are. Methuselah/ette usually doesn't like to acknowledge their birthday with any sort of pomp and circumstance. So, as one collective entity let's wish happy birthday thoughts and prosperity in the spirit of birthday fidelity, harmony and goodwill to everyone in the world. Yeah, whatever. Happy Birthday!
See ya there,
Cindy & Becki & Mikey
