Dear Pubnighters,
Since we've been revisiting old favorites in the past several weeks, this week we are going to hit a new bar in the East Village, Heathers. No, it's not a Winona Ryder theme bar-- the bar's owner is named Heather and perhaps was not the best student when it came to punctuation lessons. Yet there is some nostalgia for school days, since the place sports barstools made from grade school desks and chalkboards in the bathroom.
Heathers serves cocktails as well as a selection of draft beers. The Gothamist's review says the 'margaritas are lovely and fresh and the fried yucca chips are our new favorite bar food.' Get there early to catch the 2 for 1 drink special, which ends at 8 pm.
There's no sign for the bar, so look for 'unmarked frosted glass doors' (New York Mag) and 'purple and green lights in the windows' (Shecky's).
Cheers,
Rebecca
