Hi folks,
Every time I've seen the name of the bar we've chosen for this week's PubNight, I instantly think...Oooh, MI-5, that's like the CIA or top spy agency for the Brits, cool. I continue thinking... Hmm, maybe it has some of that mysterious goodness you can sometimes find at the KGB bar.
Well, then I break into research mode and find that I've been reading it wrong all along. It's not MI it's M1, as in the number 1. A little more digging (I went so far as to read the little description on Citysearch and Shecky's) unearths that M1-5 used to be the 1960s zoning designation for local artists living in the light manufacturing district.
Ok, so I can dig it. It's going to be all artsy and mod and such. It is Tribeca after all, right? As it turns out, this is supposed to be a toned-down, decent neighborhood tavern with a pool table, lofty ceilings and red-drenched walls. The wall description kinda makes me want to bring pastels or finger paints, but, hell, the place is not called Canvas or Kanvas (another bar for later on our PN list). So I'll refrain from unleashing my artistic talents just yet. But, I won't abstain from showing off my talents of liberating libations. And, neither should you!
So, just shake your booty downtown to M-ONE-FIVE. Drinks are cheap or so the websites say. Get it in your mind now that M1-5 is where you need to be this Wednesday night. There's just no ifs or ands about it. Capiche?
Cheerio,
Cyn (Mike, Becki and Vinny)
