Hidey-ho!
This week we're hosting PubNight in honor of those who will be leaving us to go to Burning Man. One of those people, beloved Beth, will be missing her birthday PubNight. So, this PubNight's for you, girl!
As most people know Burning Man is a communal festival. If I got it right, it's a time to: be one with nature, get along with your neighbors and express yourself freely. Sounds nice. Sounds like the ideal America. Unfortunately, our track record on global emissions, pollutants, racism, hate crimes, wars, and the laws restricting our freedoms (guys get to walk around topless, what about me?), speak volumes.
So, this little Utopia of 35,000 people comes together once a year in the Nevada desert. The citizens develop theme camps, art installations and performances. Cash doesn't exist. People depend on each other and their own preparedness. To honor PubNight's own Burning Man festival goers and their tribal venture, it's fitting that we feature PubNight at Tribe this week.
We last visited this stylin' East Village bar in Dec 2004. It has happy hour until 9 p.m. ($3 drafts, $5 cosmos & appletinis). As they put it, "Break from the dives, and groove with the tribe." It's got a tolerable trendy vibe, and their bartenders have all been amazing.
Let's raise a drink to Beth! And to Burning Man! And to Happy Hour!
Cheerio,
Cindy (Becky, Mikey & Bethy)
