Hi all,
This week I'm commandeering PN (well, with the approval of other triumvirs) for my own personal purposes. Five years ago, in the fall of 2001, I was recovering from Sept 11, living across from Prospect Park with two psycho roommates, and working as a vastly underpaid freelancer at Conde Net. One night I joined my then-boss for after-work drinks at Kettle of Fish with the Advance tech department. Beers were drunk, stories were told, darts were thrown, pizza was eaten. I look back on that night as an important precursor to my being hired as a full-time employee of Advance a couple of months later. The rest is history--more PubNighters were hired by Advance, Advance people were lured into the PubNight crowd, many more beers were drunk. But sadly, that era is at an end for me, since next week I will be starting a new job where I will have to decide whether my coworkers are cool enough to invite to PN.
Thus it is only fitting that now, as I finish out my final week at Advance five years later, that I celebrate by having PubNight at FUCKING KETTLE OF FUCKING FISH!
Feel free to show up earlier, since some of us will be going straight there from work.
