Previous PubNights PubNight Home

This week's edition of the PubNight announcement completes an unplanned recent cycle of PN emails from Triumverate Emeriti.

There's a very fine line between a groove and a rut,
A fine line between eccentric...and just plain nuts."
                       - Christine Lavin, singer/songwriter

A groove and a rut? Eccentric and just plain nuts? These are the boundaries on which I tread daily. I'll leave you all to make your own judgements as to where I fall. With a little prompting from pointed questions that suggest I might be leaning rut-ward, I've decided to try a new birthday PubNight selection, foresaking that expected Irish outpost in the Village for a fine beerhall near Penn Station. It's a bit newer and much larger, but still run by folks straight off the boat from that land where publicans seem to grow on emerald green trees. More important, it has over a dozen fine draught beers (not that I can drink any of them), two dozen stouts in bottle or draught (nor can I drink these), and at least four different ciders (ditto.) For those of us with more refined palates -- or, more accurately, annoying grain issues -- they have several very nice wines. And they have a full pubfood menu.

The place is big, so you may need to look look around for us a bit. (I'm hoping to get space in the balcony or back room.) Once we settle in, we'll let the hostess know where the motley band of PubNighters is to be found, but it will be somewhere in the confines of...

See you there.
