PubNight #543 (2/14/07) - 7:30pm at V Bar

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Once upon a time, I was a young and naive girl, and like many girls who grew up in the Boston area, I "summered" (yes, it's a verb) in Cape Cod. I was lucky enough to stumble upon another young and naive girl named Alys, who introduced me to all sorts of interesting people and fun places. We got into all kinds of trouble, as only young girls can do, but managed to get ourselves out of it as well.

As we grew older, we grew apart. We spent less time in Cape Cod, saw each other infrequently, and eventually lost touch all together.

Until a couple of months ago! In December, we ran into each other on a cold east village street corner. We agreed to meet up at a bar for a drink, and she invited me to her favorite local haunt, V Bar.

I got to V Bar early, sat at the bar, ordered a cider, and looked around. It was a small place, with a friendly staff that seemed to know many of the patrons personally. As far as I could tell, they just served wine and beer, but they had a great selection of both.

Of course, me being me, I immediately thought, "What a great place for Pubnight!" It might be a tight fit (the place is small), but it'll be worth it. Then again, we might have the smallest Pubnight of recent times, if the weather delivers on its threats.

And what could be better than going to V Bar for Valentine's Day?

See you there!
