Hello everybody,
Last week, Cindy's goal was to choose a bar where we could recreate the Cafe 61 experience. Not sure that's a goal I agree with, given not-so-fun as well as fun things happened the last time PN was there, but I do have to admit it was a pretty cool place. Last week's bar -- Bar 13 -- had a wonderful roof deck, but the karaoke never materialized, and more importantly, there was no soju, the dangerous, delicious elixir that fueled karaoke (as well as some arguments) at Café 61.
So you can think of this week as part 2 in a continuing series. Jen Na -- who was the one who introduced us to Cafe 61 -- recommended Gama, a Korean
bar/restaurant on St. Mark's. Gama has an extensive menu of homestyle Korean
food with plenty of options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. To wash it
all down, try Gama's signature drink, watermelon soju, which is made with real
watermelon juice. Did you know that adding alcohol makes fruit juice even
better for you, according to this study:

(thanks to Jen for that link)
Since Gama offers no karaoke, we'll have to do that as a part 3 next week! ;-)
Cheers!
Rebecca (& Mike & Cindy)
