PubNight #568 (8/8/07) - The Stoned Crow

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Dear Pubnight,

Hey, how's it going? I know we haven't talked in forever, but I just wanted to drop you a note and see how your summer was going... y'know, just check in.

Jay and I have been having a great summer, although, of course, as always happens around my birthday, the real summer ICK weather has just set in. We've been trying desperately to run the air conditioning as little as possible this summer, so as to save ourselves the really painful electric bill, but all our resolve just went out the window (which is now closed, because the air-conditioning is on).

Also, our dear friend Jen Na, who has been staying with us this summer while she was apartment hunting, just officially moved into her new place yesterday... which is conveniently located only three blocks downtown. :)

Just in time, too, 'cause my parents are showing up next week on their way to spending their annual end-of-summer in Cape Cod. And, yipes, they're bringing their Labrador, Teddy, which should make for an interesting couple of days with our little bitch, Gir, who doesn't like to share her apartment.

Speaking of Gir, I think she may finally have gotten the hang of this shedding thing (after five years of practice). She actually shed at the beginning of summer, this time, instead of, like, the middle of winter, as she's done before... or even the end of summer, which she did once. She's down to just a thin layer of very coarse hair, now, and she looks so skinny she almost looks sick... but she seems to be surviving the summer well, which is all that matters.

Anyway, as you can tell, there's nothing much particularly exciting going on. We're having a nice summer, spending a lot of time in the Cape, and I am, as always, getting psyched up for my birthday. This year it falls on an actual Wednesday, which is great for my birthday Pubnight. Even though I haven't been spending as much time at the Crow as I used to (wow... where did I find all that time back in the day?), tradition stands, and I'll be celebrating my 33rd birthday at the Stoned Crow on Wednesday, August 8th. If you're free, and the weather isn't too gross, it'd be great if you could stop by for a drink or a burger or something. It's been way too long since we've seen each other in person.

Okay, that's it. Hugs and kisses and write back soon!

Much love,
TK
