PubNight #572 (9/5/07) - Harefield Road

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Hello PubNighters!

With the Labor Day holiday behind us, it's time to bid farewell to summer and look forward to autumn. And with the return of autumn comes a slew of PubNight birthdays in September, starting this week with that of my sweetie, James Anderson, whose actual birthday falls on Wednesday. James has chosen to take us on a return visit to Harefield Road, a pub in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that not coincidentally is stumbling distance from our apartment.

Harefield Road has a well-curated collection of about 15-20 drafts --mostly but not exclusively American microbrews, plus Blackthorn Cider. It also has a good selection of wines, and a small but good collection of single malt scotches. Select drafts are $3 during the 4-8 pm Happy Hour. The weather looks to be perfect for sitting out on the back patio.

And, erh, I don't know if this is considered a plus, but last time we were at Harefield Road, the White Castle a couple doors down proved to be too strong a temptation for even vegetarians to pass up. If you are not sure you have the stomach for Castle cuisine, the bartenders have a collection of delivery menus to choose from.

Harefield Road is half a block from Graham St, the 3nd Stop on the L in Brooklyn (10-15 minutes from Union Square) and is 4 blocks up Metropolitan Ave from the G/L Metropolitan/Lorimer stop (2nd L stop).

Happy Birthday James!

Cheers,
