Happy Mardi Gras!!!! Today is Fat Tuesday, and we'll just ignore the fact that tomorrow is the beginning of Lent and just continue as usual with the year-long Wednesday night carnival that is PubNight.
We will not be going to any of the New Orleans theme bars in town because they are sure to be overrun with drunken frat types (since I assume they aren't observing Ash Wednesday either). Instead, we will celebrate at Honey, a lounge on 14th Street that PN last visited just over a year ago.
It's the type of place that can be packed with pre-clubbing crowds on the weekends, but weeknights it's chill and if it's like last time, we may have the run of the place, at least until late in the night.
Specials on Wednesday at Honey are $6 wine and half-price cheese fondue. Also, during happy hour until 8pm there are $4 draft beers and $5 select specialty martinis.
There is a varied food menu--last time favorites included the hummus plate (big enough to share) and the Tex Mex Mac'n'Cheese.
So come on out to celebrate Mardi Gras a day late with yummy drinks and good food -- Bring your beads and boobs if ya got 'em!
