Is it too late to make New Years' resolutions? OK, good: "Don't schedule office happy hours on PubNight anymore." A follow-up: "Once you've violated the previous resolution, don't try to speak. At least not English." And "For the love of god, Mike, no more shots! You and your boss are checking out guys together! There's no way HR allows that!"
Right! Joining the game in progress: we've got big, big things coming up. Next week is PubNight #600. The week after is our twelfth anniversary. Pause for a second to think of how much money we have collectively spent on alcohol, pub grub, cigarettes, condoms, dry cleaning, bonobos, and other crucial PN goods and services. Think of it, people! We could probably have taken care of Eliot's little "problem" for years without any need for shell corporations.
You know damn well where we're going for anniversary, and I imagine you have a pretty good idea where we're going for 600 (now that Hell is no more, there are only two bars that have come up for this special duty). But we've chosen to do a triptych of much-loved bars this month, and the first is going to be Welcome To The Johnsons'. If you don't love this very fabulous, very campy 70s throwback, it's because you don't know it. And if you don't know it, it's because something has gone wrong every time we've tried to go in the last five years or so. But we're positive nothing will happen this time. And by "positive," I of course mean "too drunk to care."
See you there!
