Hi all,
This week marks the milestone of Pubnight #600. To celebrate, we will continue the tradition of going to bars named after afterworlds for every 50th PN. This time, we return to Valhalla, which we last went to exactly one year eleven months ago for PN #500.
Valhalla translates as "Hall of the Slain," which I find strangely appropriate because I am in the midst of frantic last minute prep and bug fixes for a web project that is launching tomorrow after being in the works for the past 10 months. I have a feeling that at the end of the day I will feel like a slain warrior who deserves the heavenly reward of some excellent beer.
And what a selection of excellent beers to choose from: over 30 choices on draft and another 20 or so in bottles, with strong representation from Belgium brands and American microbrews. If you are overwhelmed by the choices, you can order one of their beer flights to sample a selection of 5 different brews. You can preview the beer list here.
If you are not in a beery mood, there's a modest but good wine selection as well as a full bar. There's no kitchen, but there's plenty of takeout options nearby and the staff are cool with you bringing in your own food.
And I hope you all have your calendars marked for next week-- we have one milestone right after the other-- Wednesday, March 26 is the 12th Anniversary of Pubnight! As usual, it will be at Swift's Hiberian Lounge, and we will have platters of free food for those who get there early enough.
If you haven't been able to make it to Pubnight in a while, next week is the week to make that extra effort to come out and see the whole crew. It will be a good time well into the wee hours of the night-- You may want to plan to take the next day off work!
