When you need a beer, you need a beer. And man, do I ever need one for each one of my soon-to-be thirty years. One beer for the year where I drank too much. One beer for the year where I drank too little. Four beers for my four(ish) years of college. Four beers for my 3.5 years at my current job. (Maybe more than four beers for that one.) One beer each for the five cities I've lived in. How many is that? Are my fingers still attached to the ends of my hands?
And then there was that year where I held some people hostage. It worked well, right up until I ran out of beer. Oh no! Tragedy! Fortunately, I had some hostages to send out to get me beer... That might not have been me. It may have been Jason Slagel. His hostages used the opportunity to call the cops. Man, it's so hard to find good help these days.
Fortunately, 4th Avenue Pub is there for all of our beer needs, if our hostages turn out to be untrustworthy. Almost 30 beers on tap, including a couple of seasonal taps, plus twice that in bottles, and a bartender who knows his business. It also has a back garden. Please join me out in Brooklyn and celebrate the waning minutes of my twenties. Take the subway (2, 3, 4, 5, M, N, Q, W, R, B, D) out to Atlantic/Pacific. The bar is a couple blocks down on 4th Avenue. Lots of trains to choose from. No excuse not come.
