Hi folks,
We've got a good one for you this week! A cozy underground hideaway devoted to good beer and good food.
Jimmy's No. 43's beer list may not be the most extensive in the city, but it is arguably one of the best curated. It focuses on natural small production beers from America, Belgium and Germany (with a smattering of other nations).
The wine selection is equally intriguing, and they have a few sakes on offer as well. No liquor, though-- you'll have to go with one of the high alcohol brews if you are intent on getting a buzz fast.
Drinking aside, this is a place that should satisfy the foodies in the group. Jimmy's has been awarded both New York Magazines "Best of New York-- Best Bar with Good Food" and Slow Food NYC's "Snail of Approval" for its creative menu showcasing seasonal, locally-sources ingredients. To give you an idea of their culinary slant, this is a place that does Beer and Bacon tastings and Beer Cheese and Chocolate pairing events!
The bar is split into multiple rooms with lots of little nooks, so be forewarned that it may take a little hunting to find each other. We'll attempt to sit in a prominent spot if possible.
See you there!
Cheers,
Rebecca & Cindy & Jaye
