Happy Holidays, Pubnight!
I am downright giddy to be looking out my window and seeing snow-- enormously big white flakes! Now it really feels like the holiday season, even if it's predicted to turn back to rain tomorrow....
This week we celebrate Holiday Pubnight-- the chance for both regular and seldom seen PubNighters to get together before everyone scatters across the country and world for the holidays. This year we make a break with tradition-- because TK and Jay are still moving back into their newly renovated apartment, we won't be taking over their place for Holiday Pubnight.
Instead, we have reserved space at Jadis, a warm subterranean hide-away of a wine bar on the LES. We were last there in December 2006, the week between Christmas and New Year's. As the snow fell outside, bottle after bottle of Prosecco was passed around. So the place has been forever imprinted on the triumvirate's collective memory as a winter holiday place.
The bar's name is pronounced Jah-diss-- it is not the character from Narnia, but a French word for 'yesteryear.' The word 'Jadis' is often used to open fairytales, as essentially the French equivalent of 'once upon a time.' But hey, if the sideways White Witch reference adds to the enchanted winter wonderland atmosphere, so be it.
Jadis features a French-dominated wine selection, as well as excellent charcuterie and cheese plates, pressed panini, and quiches. We have reserved the back area with the sofas.
Also, both Erica and myself are celebrating our birthdays this week on the 20th. December babies in the house, yo.
So come out this Wednesday, and raise a glass of bubbly to celebrate the season with Pubnight!
Cheers,
Rebecca, Cindy & Jocelyn & TK
