PubNight #647 (2/18/09) - Bayard's Ale House

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Good afternoon, Pubnight!

This week, I would like to take the opportunity to be glad that I am not a bee. Bees, like most reasonable animals, enjoy an alcoholic drink or two. Bees, like other animals, humans included, tend to be aggressive and unsteady when drunk. But if a bee returns home drunk repeatedly, the other bees surround it and chew its legs off, which I suppose is good incentive for not drinking. (Do not watch this video. Trust me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKNecnrxgdA ) I, for one, am glad that my roommates do not tear my legs off if I return home drunk two nights in a row.

In celebration of not being bees, and not having our legs gnawed off, this week we are going to a new bar, Bayard's Ale House, located at the home of the old Sazerac House in the West Village. Rumor has it the bar has a old-school pub feel, a large tap selection, a variety of tasty pub food and no bees. So, pretty much a win all around, right? Also near the PATH train, which makes some of your intrepid heroes very happy. Come join us!
