PubNight #710 (5/5/10) - Spuyten Duyvil

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Hello PubNighters,

So as it turns out, I made an excellent decision in my move this year to my new digs in Williamsburg, where I am doubly blessed to be a short hop from my big sister Becki and new brother James. Not having enough black wardrobe and tight pants to truly fit in at the Bedford Ave scene, I have been hesitant to take on lone exploration of the many and various (not all hipster ridden) pubs just blocks from my new home.

To ameliorate this travesty and due to the boldness that surviving of another New York winter brings, I declare this week to be go-out-and-be-adventuresome-in-Brooklyn-Rachel's-birthday week (a/k/a not so much with the good-at-naming-things week).

Just one stop on the L train into Brooklyn or a jaunt around the corner from my home, we find a place with a very difficult to spell and pronounce name, Spuyten Duyvil. I am told that it has an equally difficult to choose from menu of excellent (purportedly "rare and obscure") beers. Also, I hear tell of a back garden should the weather hold out.

Please come help me celebrate the joy of the 'hood and the eternally springing of the hope (that my birthday will be happy).

*Directions to Spuyten Duyvil...G or L train. L train to first stop in Bklyn (Bedford) or second stop (Lorimer). It is equidistant from both. It's a more direct path from Lorimerstop (but you stay on the train for another stop). OR you can take the G train to Metropolitan Ave then walk a few blocks west to Havemeyer St.

Be bold!
--Rachel (and those others who put idears in my head)

This message's joyous delirium is brought to you by late nights, working too hard, and sisters who will always be older than me (and have more grey hair).
