PubNight #775 (8/3/11) - Rumours

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

No birthdays this week. No new jobs or anniversaries. As far as I know there is absolutely NOTHING to celebrate in the PN universe this week. (The debt bill passage does not warrant celebration, though, as a government employee, I am glad I will be getting my next paycheck.)

Since the news has also been boring, aside from the occasional revolution, political scandal and reported reality series about Pippa, we'll have to turn to Rumours. I mean the pub: not the unsubstantiated talk or opinion.

They have pub food, 14 draft beers and lots of large screen TVs for all the PubNight sports nuts. Yes, that last part was meant ironically (except to Jaye.) But the Bronx and midwest PN contingents might be interested in watching the Yankees take on the White Sox. And the Mets are playing the Marlins at home...but who really cares about the Mets.

You should raise a toast in honor of Thurman Munson, who died on August 2, 1979. I still remember hearing the sad news at Boy Scout Camp that day. His number (15) was retired the next day -- 22 years ago today.

Closest subways are 1/A/C/E/N/R/Q/B/D, and the F is also just a few blocks.

Let Rumours abound!
