PubNight #780 (9/7/11) - Noorman's Kil

Previous PubNights PubNight Home

Birthdays always lead to introspection and, this year as I look back, I realize there has been a dearth of cheese toasties and bourbon. Fortunately this can be fixed. Noorman's Kil offers these things in abundance. It's a new bar at the previous location of Art Land - lots of room, lots of whiskey (as well as very good wine and draft beer choices), friendly and skilled bartenders, gourmet grilled cheese, reasonable prices and a big backyard. It's also quite close to the Lorimer stop on the L train.

After some discussion with Gary the barkeep his recommendation for me was Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey and it was a great one. Give it a try if you're a fan of American bourbons, but there are plenty of other choices from all over the world (Canada and Ireland get their own pages of the voluminous menu ). They have some interesting cocktails too ; their Manhattan was nicely complex if perhaps not as sweet as I personally like it. Anyway, my description does not do it justice, join me on Wednesday and see if you agree.

See you there!
