It's that time of year.
Tourists underfoot everywhere you turn, gigantic shopping bags jammed into your ribs in overcrowded subway cars, brassy Christmas standards blaring in your ears from every direction... New York City during the holiday season is exciting and sparkly... and it's no wonder we're driven to drink! Three minutes on a Broadway sidewalk is enough to make you daydream of sipping a cozy drink by the fireside in some faraway mountain cabin.
Well what if that faraway mountain cabin getaway were as (comparatively) close as Carroll Gardens?
Just a block from the F/G trains at Carroll Street is Black Mountain Winehouse, a beautiful little refuge with a working fireplace, a great wine list, enticing wintery cocktails, very respectable beers, and a short but mouthwatering menu of seasonal eats.*
Come spend a cozy evening with your fellow pubnighters, pretend you're already on your winter vacation for the night, and raise a glass to celebrate my imminent birthday (which happens to be a mid-decade milestone)!
Joyeux!
Lisa
*Jocelyn asked if this year's birthday pubnight email was going to have footnotes again and originally I said no I was going to refrain from footnoting, but just because she asked I am now adding a footnote that last Tuesday's daily specials were turnip apple soup, mackerel with pine nuts and radishes, and short ribs with cauliflower, all of which sounded totally delicious.
