This week's PubNight email comes to us from Money:
It's my birthday PubNight, but it's Erika who's friends with the owners of this week's establishment, so I'll let her offer the verbose explanation...
This week's pubnight is at the newly-opened Smithfield NYC, a 3-story bar conveniently located (for me) near Penn Station. I know three of the four owners from my drinking days before I came to Pubnight, and one of them, Ken Foley, is a dear friend. This is his first stab at ownership, and I couldn't be more proud. Ken is kindly letting us have use of the private Wallace Room on the top floor (you'll have to walk past the restrooms at the rear of the second floor and follow the hallway to the secret staircase). I haven't gotten to try the food yet, but the kitchen is gorgeous, so I'm hoping that bodes well. He and his partners have put months of blood, sweat and beers into their new venture, and I think they deserve a PubNight style influx of Wednesday night cheer. Also, it's Money's birthday, which deserves some raised glasses.
