In the wake of ye olde Hurricane Sandy, I thought it might be nice to give our business to a place that, a mere two weeks ago, was completely underwater. Hence, we are headed to the Alphabet City Beer Company. They re-opened last week, and got their tap systems up and running again this past weekend, and they would very much appreciate our business on a Wednesday night, which is generally one of their quietest nights of the week. While we don't have a formal reservation, I was assured that there should be plenty of table space for us in the back.
The Alphabet City Beer Company is not only a bar, it's also a beer store, so I, for one, will be bringing a big canvas bag with me, which is my favorite vehicle for transporting liquids in heavy glass bottles. They sell both bottled beer and growlers of what they have on tap, so you can taste lots of things and then decide what you want to bring home with you. In addition, they have a small but interesting looking food menu, with meat and cheese platters and a variety of sandwiches.
Please join me in helping support one of the businesses that was most hard-hit by the recent storm... while enjoying some awesome beers at the same time.
